Trainee Pro-Am a big hit
Neville Hogan the trainee professional at Tamborine Mountain Golf Club has two good reasons to celebrate. First with the installation of a new and substantial 264m2 acoustic Clubhouse ceiling and in the following week Neville conducted his first Trainee Professional Pro-Am. This was a requirement of his PGA apprenticeship. This took place on Monday March 26 where over 40 trainee professionals had traveled from all over Queensland, joined by 78 Tamborine Mountain Golf Club members and visitors. The inaugural event was made possible thanks to the valued financial support provided by a number individual members and the numerous commercial sponsors from both on and off the Mountain.
This now widely regarded event enabled the trainee professional Dean Jamison, Hills Golf Club at Jimboomba to take the winning $700 cheque with a 3 under par score of 67. Other winners on the day were; A-Grade – Phil Fahey (visitor) 42 stableford points; B-Grade – Dion McRae 39 points; C-Grade Winner- Ian Miller 40 points and Ladies Winner Ligouri Kent 35 points. Amateur gross winner was Owen Achterberg. Although he has now completed his training requirement to arrange and host a PRO-AM, Neville Hogan and Club Professional Andrew Revie plan hosting a similar tournament in 2019.
